The event is aimed at introducing music to the younger generation in the country so that they would

of their lifetime. The violinist added that they started practising since last April. Apart from the 50 young LSM musicians
aged between 4 and 35, the concert will also feature more than 40 musicians from the neighbouring Malaysian state of Sarawak.

and P Ramlee's evergreen pieces to classical, Disney music and folk tunes.

they will rehearse for a few days before the concert date.
A musical director from the London College of Music and Media Faculty at the Thames Valley University

general public. "Those who are interested to attend the workshops are required to buy tickets," she said.

By Rosli Abidin YahyaIn an attempt to battle current drug problems plaguing today's youths, Basmida, a
local organisation, has teamed up with a local music school La Strad Musique of Madang with the support of HSBC to bring about
a charity orchestra to be held at ICC in December.
The main aim of the concert is to charm addicts away from drugs
and lure them towards music, which is believed to be a great healer.
Hopefully the tuneful attempt will get youths, especially addicts
moving in the right direction, a spokesman for the orchestra said.
"Around 90 to 100 musicians are expected to take part in the
charity concert to be held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas in December 4 aimed at introducing music as past

A spokesman for LSM said a musical director from London College
of Music and Media Faculty, Thames Valley University will be coming to Brunei to coach the performers and provide workshops
to its students in their preparation for the charity concert.

instruments such as violin, cello, double bass, digital grand piano, classical guitar, electric violin, midi, and music computer
technology.
The musical directors for the orchestral concert will be Kimberley

their Rakan Basmida project as well as towards scholarships for talented LSM students to pursue overseas study in music, said
